Located along Dixie Highway, Waverly Park Road is one of the more affluent areas of the South End. It is also close to a popular lake for boating. The trail is popular among locals and area runners.
There are three designated parking lots. The main entrance is about a mile from State Highway #3 and #7. The main loop is six miles long and includes a few rocky sections. You’ll also see wild turkey and coyotes on your run.
Dog run
Located in Waverly Park, this off-leash dog run provides an outdoor space for your dog to exercise and play. Whether you are looking for a little exercise, a shady spot to relax, or a pawsitive socialization, this location is ideal for all.
The Louisville Dog Run Association is a non-profit organization that runs off-leash parks across the city. The association has opened seven dog parks since 2004 and is seeking additional locations in the southern part of the county.
The Louisville Dog Run Association has teamed up with Metro Parks to build a new off-leash dog run in Waverly Park. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
The Louisville Dog Run Association plans to spend $33,000 on the project. It will be about the same size as the Floyds Fork dog run, but with a bit more of a woodsy feel.
The Louisville Dog Run Association has been searching for the perfect southwest Louisville location for a few years. The association partnered with Metro Parks to build the Waverly Dog Run, but they did not move forward until Metro Councilman David Yates offered his support. Haunted Trails of Waverly Hills race

The sanatorium is located in southwestern Jefferson County, Kentucky. It is listed on the National Historic Register. It was built in 1910 as a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients. It served as a vital medical center for Louisville, Kentucky, for more than 50 years. During this time, it became known as the “most haunted place on earth”.

For Halloween, the sanatorium turns into a thrilling Haunted House. Tickets are available online. They start at $40 for the full tour. They run through October 29.
